Knowing nothing about how to lose weight you can change your life for the better in a short period of time.
As we age it seems we inevitably gain weight. When I married 45 years ago at 6' 4" I was a healthy, athletic 12 stones. This had grown to 19 ½ stone a little over 2 years ago, which was when I decided I had to do something about it.
I put this weight gain down to a change in lifestyle from being active when we are young to becoming less active as we grow older plus our eating habits change, as we become more affluent we eat out more and are less circumspect in how much and what we eat and drink.
Starting from knowing nothing about food, calories or diets it was possible to work out how to lose weight healthily with only minor changes to lifestyle and what's more the weight stays off.
The first big thing was to decide to do it. My doctor over the years had told me to lose weight. My wife took pride in her cooking and I enjoyed eating what she prepared. We had to face however, that what we were eating, mostly traditional fare, was causing the weight gain.
To find the solution to any problem it's usual in most cases to buy a book. Armed with this it was necessary to reform our eating regime. My wife was affronted but we worked it out. In essence the solution comes down to less carbohydrate with a little more moderate exercise, walking.
Obviously there's a little more in detail to it than that but the net result was a progressive 2 stone weight loss in a little over 12 months. What's more with no back sliding the weight has stayed off.
The compliments have been great but the more general feeling of being more alert and possessing more energy while wearing clothes that feel more comfortable is remarkable.
When I was starting to realise what was going on it became something of a mission to write down what gave such a benefit. Hence the creation of 101 Practical Weight Loss Tips, which explains in layman's terms how anyone can lose 2 stones provided they decide to do it.
