Hi, my name is Elie Goldschmidt and this is my story.
When I was 14 years old my aunt was diagnosed with cancer. Despite surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments the cancer still spread to her bones and her lungs.
Her doctors told her there was nothing more they could do.
She refused to accept a death sentence and with nothing left to lose, stopped all western medical treatments and adopted a macrobiotic diet and lifestyle. Though the odds were against her, the cancer regressed and she made a full recovery. She documented her journey in a book Recovery from Cancer: One Woman's Struggle with Cancer & What She Did to Beat the Odds.

Her experience had a tremendous impact on me and I began to change the way I ate. I devoured
books on the relationship between food and health, took classes, and eventually earned my Master's
Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
